Dear Parents and Carers,
What a wonderful final week of term – it has been jam-packed with festive activities and there has been such a sense of joy around the school.
On Tuesday we welcomed visitors from CYE who led an assembly with their own version of the Nativity which included time travel! However, the takeaway was that Jesus' birth meant that God came down to Earth for all of us. We learnt that Emmanuel means God is with us.
Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening Key Stage 2 shared their Advent Service with their families. As Fr Alistair said on Wednesday night, the children really did give us all a gift with their singing, acting and narrating. It was a beautiful service that got us all to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and how we can walk humbly with God. I was immensely proud of all the children and the staff, for their hard work with this.
Children and staff enjoyed Christmas lunch on Wednesday in our Christmas jumpers! The kitchen served lunch for around 180 children and staff. Thank you to the kitchen team for their hard work with this.
Thursday afternoon we had our final Celebration Assembly of the term when two children from each class were awarded School Values Ambassadors certificates. This means that these children showed our school values all term. Well done to all the children who received these!
Finally, we ended the term with Mass at the Church. A lovely way to end the Autumn term and my first term as Head of School.
I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas with your families and wish you all the very best for 2025. Thank you for your support over this term and the kind gifts and cards you have given staff.
See you all on the 6th January!
Mrs. Amy O’Donovan
Head of School
Collective Worship
Rejoice was the theme of this week’s collective worship as we learnt about Gaudete Sunday. We lit our rose candle on our Advent wreath.
Wake Up Wednesday
The holiday season is a time for celebration, relaxation and spending well-earned time with loved ones. While this period will hopefully be calm, it’s important that as parents and educators we acknowledge there are still things we can do to make these weeks as safe as possible for the young people in our care. Here is this week’s Wake Up Wednesday:
Volunteers
We would love to have some parents/grandparents help with reading in school. To volunteer, you will need to be committed to coming into school regularly, undertake a DBS and safeguarding training. Please contact the office if you can offer support with this.
Snacks in school
A gentle reminder that KS2 children may bring in a snack to have at morning play. Reception and KS1 receive free fruit and vegetables from the Government. Children in KS2 should bring fresh or dried fruits or vegetables.
Spring term dates for your diary
Monday 6th January – Start of term
Monday 13th January - Start of the spring term Mass at 10am in the Church
Sunday 26th January - Mrs. O’Donovan’s Induction Mass with the Bishop at 11am in the Church. All families are invited and it would be lovely if the children could wear their school uniform.
